Emily Bear will present a concert Sept. 15 to benefit the Larkin Center with guest performances by Elgin Children’s Chorus and Arielle Dayan.

Pianist and composer Emily Bear has been playing piano for five years, but at just 10 years old she performs a large list of classics and standards, and composes her own songs.

Emily was the youngest solo performer in the history of the Ravinia Festival, has performed with many well-known musicians, appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” six times, and performed at the White House and Carnegie Hall.

Emily performed at the 2012 Life Ball for AIDS at the Hoffburg Palace in Vienna and at gala events for many charities including UNICEF, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Ronald McDonald House and others.

Fresh from her debuts at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Hollywood Bowl, she is currently working on her newest CD, produced by Quincy Jones on the Concord Music label. Profits from each of her CDs and songbooks are donated to many charities.

Elgin Children’s Chorus

The Elgin Children’s Chorus begins its 26th year of “teaching life through song.”

The chorus has grown to more than 120 boys and girls ages 7 to 16 from nearly 50 schools in 18 cities. The chorus has toured Europe numerous times; appeared as guest artist regularly with organizations such as the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Choral Union and Heartland Singers; and has established a reputation for excellence in choral tone and musicianship.

Arielle Dayan

Arielle Dayan’s first professional role came at the age of 9 when she was cast as Young Eponine/Young Cosette in Marriott Lincolnshire Theater’s “Les Miserables.”

She also has performed in “Seussical” and “The Sound of Music” at the Drury Lane in Oak Brook and “A Christmas Carol” and “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Marriott Theater. Arielle was honored to sing with the Broadway cast of “A White Christmas” for the Chicago Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The Larkin Center’s Adult Program provides supportive residential care, casework services and life-skills training to adult men and women who suffer with chronic mental illness and so desperately need refuge other than the streets or shelters.

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

Tickets are available online at www.hemmens.org; by calling 847-931-5900; or in person at the box office. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are priced from $15 to $35. Limited VIP tickets include Meet and Greet with Emily Bear and Dessert Reception after the performance.
