Updated: October 1, 2012 5:13PM

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County welcomes seniors to take a walk through the woods each month during the Senior Stroll program.

Join the group for festivities, food, fellowship and more. On Sept. 6, the group will visit Muirhead Springs Forest Preserve, located at 42W855 Bahr Road, west of Elgin.

On Oct. 4, stroll through Elburn Forest Preserve starting at the new entrance located at 1N750 Reed St., Elburn.

The Nov. 1 program is at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, 1680 Fifth Ave., Aurora. On Dec. 6, there will be a holiday gathering from 10 a.m. to noon at Brewster Creek Lodge southeast of South Elgin.

There will be time after each walk for socializing and refreshments. Please wear sturdy shoes, insect repellent and sunscreen. In the event of severe weather, call 847-741-8350 for cancellation information.

District naturalists will lead the leisurely walks while sharing both the natural and cultural history of each area. Senior Stroll is free, and registration is not required.
