Elgin: History Museum fundraiser Thursday

The Elgin Area Historical Society will be the Elgin Non-Profit of the Week from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Villa Verone Restaurant. There will be lots of fun with prize drawings, great people, and free appetizers. Restaurant owner Pietro Verone, has been helping the Elgin non-profit community by highlighting a variety of groups at a weekly karoke night. Apercentage of profits from the evening will be donated to the Museum to assist with a variety of projects, including the future windmill interpretive site in Foundry Park.

Fox Valley’s Guardian Angels Feline Rescue is hosting an Open Adoptions & Yard Sale Fundraiser which will include antiques, collectibles, camping & fishing stuff, on Aug. 24, 25 and 26 from noon to 6 P.M. at 421 Martin Drive in South Elgin.No Adoption Fee to Qualified Adopters for all Rescued Felines that had been abandoned or abused. Elgin: Doug C. Johnson’s Senior Triad Picnic

Doug C. Johnson’s Annual Senior TRIAD Picnic sponsored by Elgin Township TRIAD will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. Events include a Hawaiian Band, dancing, crafts and antique car show, Hawaiian themed lunch and drawings for prizes. The event will be held at Willow Lakes Estates, 161 W. River Road (Route 31 and West River Road) behind the clubhouse. Golf carts will be available from the parking lot to picnic area). Must register to attend- no walkins accepted. Fox Valley: Crisis Line seeks volunteers

The Crisis Line of the Fox Valley offers free, supportive counseling and referrals to community resources. They are looking for empathic individuals with good communication skills to participate in our ten- week Crisis Line training program. Classes start on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Association for Individual Development’s Behavioral Health site at 1230 N. Highland Ave. in Aurora. The training focuses on mental illness, crisis intervention, suicide, addictions, abuse, and community resources. For questions, or to register, please call Cheryl at 630-966-4304.
