Discover, United Way of Elgin, the city of Elgin and organizers from KaBOOM! hosted design day recently for children at Huff Elementary School.

The reason for the symposium? Children from the area put crayon to paper and drew their dream playgrounds, which will ultimately become a reality.

Elements from the children’s drawings will be incorporated into the final design for the new community playground to be built on Sept. 28 at Wright Avenue Park.

As this photo sequence suggests, there’s a lot that goes into planning a park.
