Free summer lunches for kids program continues

ELGIN — The City of Elgin Park and Recreation Department, Northern Illinois Food Bank and several local churches are continuing the popular free summer lunch program. The lunches are provided rain or shine and no matter what the temperature is.

The lunches will be provided Monday through Friday to Elgin-area children 18 and under, until Aug. 17. The distribution is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following ten locations throughout the City.

Eastside Recreation Center, 1080 E. Chicago St.

Clara Howard Park, Fremont St.

Salvation Army, 316 Douglas Ave.

St. Francis Park, Jefferson & Center St.

Buena Vista Townhomes, 1285 Fleetwood

Cornerstone Park, 1540 Mulberry Lane

Elgin Community Church, 991 Deborah St.

Harriet Gifford School, 240 S. Clifton Ave.

Clifford/Owasco Park, 825 Clifford St.

Buena Vista Apartments Clubhouse, 1285 Fleetwood Dr.

Elgin’s Parks and Recreation Department works to create community through people, parks and programs.

Annually, the department offers hundreds of programs and services to thousands of families and children in the Elgin area.
