Elgin: Woman’s Club scholarships
The Elgin Woman’s Club has awarded two $1,500 scholarships to graduating students from District U46 high schools pursuing careers in the field of health occupations. The 125-year-old organization continues its emphasis on education with the scholarships, as it has for many years. New scholarship recipients are Bartlett High School graduating senior Marianne Palczewski, who will attend the University of Illinois at Chicago. She plans to major in biomedical engineering and the GPPA pharmacy program. At Larkin High School, Shelby Matison received the EWC scholarship and will attend St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Ind., where she plans to major in nursing. Scholarship funds are raised during the year by club members through a variety of efforts, including an annual fall luncheon featuring programs by noted entertainers.
