East Dundee: Movie music program at Dundee Library

The Dundee Library invites all music and movie lovers to “Golden Songs of the Silver Screen” at 2 p.m. Sunday. The library is at 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee. Musician Steve Askins, with his guitar, will perform some of the best-loved songs of the cinema featuring the music of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and more. The program is free. Registration is recommended. Elgin Woman’s Club plans February meeting
The Elgin Woman’s Club begins its meetings for 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with a program and luncheon at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. Presented by the Conservation Department, the program will feature a program by Duane Wirth, a representative from the “Honor Flight Chicago” organization. Honor Flight Chicago’s mission is to bring World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., at no cost to them for a day of honor, remembrance and celebration. Hostesses for the February meeting are EWC members Marian Meadows, conservation chairman, Becky Demmin, Shirley Fletcher and Pat Sjurseth. Reservations should be made no later than Friday by calling the EWC hotline at 847-622-3614. The cost of the luncheon meeting and program is $20 and may be paid by check the day of the meeting.
