Elgin Brewfest returns Father’s Day weekend featuring beer, bands and food.

The annual fest runs from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at the Community Park in Elgin.

Elgin Brewfest is an annual charity event serving the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin. All proceeds from the event go to the organization that promotes positive development and education for children, said Cindy Penn with the Brewfest.

“The event is mainly for raising money for the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin,” she said. “The proceeds that we make will go to the Boys and Girls Club. Last year we were able to give them over $20,000 from our event. It’s just a family gathering for music and beer. We’ll have some food vendors there as well.”

Food vendors include Mama Lou’s BBQ, Tilted Kilt, Mr. Funnel Cake, North of the Border Mexican restaurant, T-Dogs BBQ (which will serve up turkey legs) and Prairie Rock Grill.

The Brewfest generally draws anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 people each night, she said. The fest is sponsored by Budweiser, so there will be a lot of Budweiser products, she said.

“We are also going to be serving some beer from Stockholm’s. They are out of Geneva. They make their own beer,” she said. “We are going to be selling some red and white wines as well.”

Beer and wine tickets cost $5 per cup. Wristbands must be obtained to purchase alcohol. Food is purchased on a cash basis.

Jamie Campbell and the Redneck Romeos will play at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by Smokin’ Gunz at 7 p.m. and Infinity at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s musical lineup includes Serendipity opening at 5 p.m. followed by He Said She Said at 7 p.m. Headlining the festival will be the popular band 7th Heaven at 9 p.m.
