Midsommarfest: One of Chicago’s oldest street festivals, Midsommarfest in Andersonville, is back on June 8, 9 and 10 at 5200 N. Clark St. (at Foster) to 5500 N. Clark St. (at Catalpa). Midsommarfest kicks off with an “Opening Party” from 5 to 10 p.m. June 8. Jam to cover band 16 Candles and check out the vendors. The rest of the weekend, times are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 9 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 10. The fest brings more music, great food and drink, an array of clothing, jewelry, artwork and more, and even Sunday morning yoga. The entrance fee to Midsommarfest is a suggested donation of $5 which benefits the Andersonville community. Fest info at www.starevents.
It’s alive...IT’S ALIVE!: Visit the Chicago Children’s Museum this June, when CCM unleashes Mad Science!, a month-long tribute to the Mr. Hyde that lies deep down in all of us. Mad Science! begins June 1 and runs through June 30. Programs start at 12:30 p.m. every day. Specific dates and times, are listed on the museum’s website calendar. In-Water Boat Show: Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show runs June 7 through 10. The show puts visitors at the helm with interactive, on-water education and entertainment for land lubbers and seasoned skippers of all ages. Shop hundreds of new boats and marine products, and take part in one of a variety of complimentary courses, simulations and other activities to kick off summer and enjoy the boating lifestyle. And it’s right on the lake at 31st Street Harbor (3100 S. Lakeshore Drive). Adults, 16 and over, are $10. Kids 15 and younger are free.
