Entertainment Briefs for May 18, 2012

Here is a look at entertainment news from the region. Items include Dr. Harvey Karp coming to the big screen in Naperville and Joliet and Straight No Chaser playing at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet.

Dr. Karp comes to big screen

Acclaimed pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp will bring his tips and techniques for raising happy babies and toddlers to big screen theaters in Naperville and Joliet on June 21.

“Parent’s Night Out with the Happiest Baby & Happiest Toddler” will play at the AMC Showplace Naperville 16 in Naperville and at the Cinemark in Joliet at 7:30 p.m.

Host Ali Landry (former Miss USA and mother of two) will help Dr. Karp share tips from his best-selling parenting guides “The Happiest Baby on the Block” and “The Happiest Toddler on the Block.”

Live demonstrations, footage of parents in action and a hot-topic Q&A session will help families learn how to get more sleep while raising happy, well-behaved children.

Tickets are $7.50 for children and $10 for adults at the AMC Showplace Naperville 16; $10.50 for children, $11.50 for seniors and $12.50 for adults at the Cinemark in Joliet. Visit fathomevents.com.

Straight No Chaser to play Rialto

A cappella group Straight No Chaser will play the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 as part of their #SNClive Fall 2012 Tour.

The group credits a large part of their success to the sharing of their content on sites like YouTube, and they are using the tour to expand social media interaction with fans. As its name suggests, #SNClive will be a multi-platform concert event and the hashtag will give fans a way to search and categorize tour content across all social media platforms.
