ELGIN — American Sign Factory and Sure Light Sign Company, two of the industry’s most respected entities, have merged to create the Midwest’s largest custom sign fabricator and full service provider of visual communications, it was announced recently by Jordan Uditsky, owner and president of the combined units.

The combined capabilities have created a formidable provider of exterior signage, interior way finding systems, awnings and canopies, lighting systems, and lighting maintenance throughout the Midwest, and nationally, he said.

American Sign Factory, which acquired the assets of Sure Light Sign Company, is widely acknowledged as a leading full service designer, manufacturer, and installer of innovative custom signage, awnings, and lighting solutions in both the Chicago and Milwaukee area. Sure Light Sign Company, founded in 1977, is widely known as a leading provider of effective visual communications systems with strong operational expertise in fabrication, field operations, and project management.

Serving the needs of clients across many industries — McDonald’s, Subway, Starbucks, Jimmy John’s, CVS Pharmacy, Westin Hotel, TCF Bank, Canon, and FedEx — as well as small size businesses, the two companies bring a variety of strengths to each other’s formidable client roster.

“Sure Light brings to American Sign Factory’s existing customers a dedicated project management team, the gateway between sales and operations, which understands the subtle nuances of fabrication and highly technical elements of installation combined with a structured process delivering on-time and in-budget solutions on a regular basis,” Uditsky said.

“With multiple points of contact within the company focused on different aspects of the customers’ needs, both sales and project management can be more customer intimate both pre- and post-sale,” he said.

“American Sign Factory’s expanded sales team and operational footprint brings a greater value to Sure Light Sign Company’s current customers, said Terry McCloud, a Sure Light executive for four years and now vice president of Business Development and Marketing for the combined units. “American Sign Factory’s 30 years of extensive knowledge of financial institution conversions, oil/convenience customers, and QSR/franchisee operations, round out the experience of the Sure Light team’s program experience in retail and QSR.”

He added: “With the acquisition of Awnings Plus in 2010, in-house awning fabrication and installation enhances our portfolio of products and services and allows for a more competitive landscape in these product categories. Additionally, combining American-Sign’s fabrication expertise with Sure Light’s brings a best practice approach to our overall operations.”

Now including three facilities approaching almost 100,000 square feet combined and a service/installation fleet exceeding 20 vehicles, the combined companies are now able to manage much larger, more complex projects and programs, thus elevating and positioning the company among some of the country’s largest sign companies.

In addition to its turn-key self-performed operations in Milwaukee and Chicago, the company now boasts an extended sign partner network of 285 pre-qualified service and installation companies across the U.S. providing true national capabilities for projects and programs.

Though the two units now possess more substantial combined capabilities, Uditsky emphasized an ongoing commitment to serving the needs of smaller businesses that benefit from its design, permit, survey, project management, fabrication, installation, and service expertise.
