Elgin

Sexual abuse charged: Jaime Rodriguez, 50, of the 600 block of Lyle Avenue, Elgin, was charged with two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a family member under the age of 18. According to police, the charges result from abuse that allegedly occurred from Jan. 1 through Monday, and included fondling a child’s breast. Bail was set at $150,000, and he was given a Feb. 5 court date.

Pot, gun charges following fire: An Elgin man faces marijuana and gun charges following a fire at his mobile home Saturday. Troy M. Tortorella, 51, of the 0-100 block of Melbrooke Road, was charged with a Class 4 felony count of possession of cannabis, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification ID card. According to police, Elgin firefighters were called to the unit at 79 Melbrooke Road at 2:53 a.m. Sunday and found a small marijuana growing operation at the home. Officers found one growing marijuana plant, four plants with empty stems, 235 grams of separated cannabis, as well as a shotgun, rifle, revolver, semi-automatic handgun, and 2,500 rounds of ammunition. Bail was set at $7,500, and he was given a Feb. 14 court date.

Carpentersville

Cocaine charges: Makayla R. Nisler, 19, of Dean Drive, St. Charles, was charged with a Class 4 felony count of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, following an arrest Saturday. She is accused of possessing less than 15 grams of the drug. Bail was set at $7,500, and she was given a Feb. 7 court date.
