Police gang unit probes 5 shot in Elgin

ELGIN — Five people were shot in an early morning incident Sunday — four who were found by police in a home in the 300 block of North Street and one who drove to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital for treatment, police said. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, police said.

Police were called about 3:10 a.m. for a reported shooting. Once on scene, officers located four victims with gunshot wounds from an unknown offender, officials said.

Police also discovered a fifth person drove to the hospital.

The additional victims were taken to either Advocate Sherman Hospital or Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, police said.

Detectives from the police department’s Gang Crimes Unit responded to the scene are investigating the incident.
