ELGIN — Following a two-month investigation, an Elgin man is facing felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance, police announced Thursday.
The Elgin Police Department’s Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant Jan. 3 in the 500 block of Slade Avenue as a result of the investigation, officials said.
The investigation was initiated after complaints of drug sales and other criminal activity, police said.
Officers from the Special Investigations Division recovered 5 grams (less than a half-ounce) of heroin, 2 ounces of cannabis, and other items indicative of drug sales from the residence, police said.
Mark A. McDaniel, 22, of the 1000 block of Todd Farm Drive, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the raid and was charged with a Class X count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and two Class 1 felony counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
According to police, McDaniel sold cocaine to undercover officers in December and January.
Bail was set at $200,000 Thursday, and he was given a Jan. 17 court date.
