ELGIN — Tickets to Judson University’s 2014 World Leaders Forum, featuring former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as keynote speaker, will open to the public Wednesday.

The fourth annual community event will take place at 3 p.m. March 19 at the Judson University Herrick Chapel in Elgin. The venue has a capacity of 600 and is expected to sell out quickly, a release from the university said.

Rice also will speak later that night at a VIP reception, which is open to the public, at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Chicago at 720 S. Michigan Ave. Ticketing and sponsorship information for both events can be found at

Rice, the first African-American woman to serve as U.S. secretary of state, will speak about global leadership at both events, and each presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Sponsors of the VIP event will have a photo opportunity with Rice.

In its first three years, the World Leaders Forum was keynoted by George W. Bush, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Tony Blair, respectively.

The goal of this event is to offer Judson students and area professionals an opportunity to be inspired by significant thought leaders with a global perspective. Funds raised from the World Leaders Forum go toward scholarships for current Judson University students and an endowment to start an entrepreneurial studies program at Judson, according to the release.

Rice served as secretary of state to President George W. Bush. She also is the first woman to serve as assistant to the president for National Security Affairs, which she did for the Bush administration from 2001-2005.

Since leaving the White House, Rice has authored two bestselling books — No Higher Honor: A Memoir of My Years in Washington, and Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family. Rice is a professor of political science at Stanford University and founding partner of RiceHadleyGates LLC.
