Cops seek driver in Elgin hit and run

ELGIN — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of a pickup truck that struck and seriously injured a South Elgin man Sunday evening as he crossed a street with his family.
According to reports, the incident occurred about 6:53 p.m. when the 33-year-old victim was crossing National Street at the bike path crosswalk just east of the Fox River bridge.
The offending vehicle was traveling west on National Street at the time, police said.
The vehicle is described as Dodge Dakota, burgundy or dark in color over a gray color, with the words “DODGE” across the width of the tailgate.
Police said they have no driver information.
The victim was transported to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with significant injuries and later transferred to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove due to the injuries, authorities said.
