Elginite shot in gang gunfire

ELGIN — An 18-year-old Elgin man was treated for a gunshot wound following an early morning shooting Sunday that is believed to be gang-related, police said.
Officers were called about 1:45 a.m. to the parking lot of a hotel in the 500 block of Airport Road on a report of a man being struck by gunfire, police said.
The victim was found at the hotel and was taken by Elgin Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital for treatment. The wound did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
Initial reports were that the shooting took place outside but did not say where, only that the victim was found at the hotel.
Investigators from the Gang Crimes Unit responded to the scene and believe the shooting was gang-related, police said.
