EAST DUNDEE — A fall cleanup near the banks of the Fox River is set for Sunday, Sept. 22.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Rosie O’Hare’s Public House, 702 Water St., then work in teams to collect any garbage from the streets of the surrounding area. Afterward, crews will meet back at Rosie’s for a free lunch available to those who helped. Euclid Beverage will provide shirts for those who take part in the effort.
“Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us,” Rosie’s bartender Andrea Spensley-McDermott said.
Spensley-McDermott said she worked for the late Thom McNamee at both Rosie’s and Bandito Barney’s in East Dundee for four years.
McNamee, who passed away four years ago, started the cleanups in part to be a good neighbor.
“I think that this is a good opportunity to give back to our community, and show them how much we appreciate not only their business but their willingness to let us be a part of that community,” Spensley-McDermott said. “It’s also a great way to bring our staff together and do something positive as a group.”
