ELGIN -- Elgin Community College is investigating what caused two very brief power outages Tuesday morning in two of the buildings on its campus at 1700 Spartan Drive.
Those outages impacted Building B, where the college’s Jobe Lounge, cafeteria and bookstore are located. College spokesman Jeff Julian said he was unsure where else the outage occurred.
The power went out just before noon, and backup lights blinked on moments later.
The second outage happened just afterward and was even shorter, according to Julian. It may have been more isolated, he said.
“Our operations and maintenance staff is looking at it right now,” he said.
Temperatures were at 89 degrees at the time of the outage and felt like 97, according to AccuWeather.com.
