Report: South Elgin woman died of hanging in Kane County jail

An inmate who died after being found unresponsive in her cell at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in Geneva Friday has been identified as a 52-year-old South Elgin resident who died of asphyxiation by hanging, a preliminary report shows.
Terry A. Hart of the 600 block of Woodland Drive was found in her cell at about 1:45 p.m. by a correctional officer during a routine check, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s office press release.
She was taken to Delnor Hospital where she was pronouned dead at about 5:08 p.m.
Hart had been in jail since July 31.
Kane County sheriff’s detectives are invistigating the incident.
