Woman struck, killed by car in Lake in the Hills

LAKE IN THE HILLS — An 18-year-old Lake in the Hills woman died Monday evening after she was hit by a car on Algonquin Road, police said.

The victim, Emily Weyers, was taken by ambulance to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

According to Lake in the Hills police, officers were called at 9:49 p.m. to Algonquin Road west of Oakleaf Road for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian and a car.

Weyers was treated by officers on the scene and then transported by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Department.

Police said she had been struck by 2001 Dodge Intrepid driven by Christian Nunez, 18, of Carpentersville. The car had extensive driver’s side damage, according to reports.

The accident was still under investigation Tuesday by Lake in the Hills police.
