Man accused of battery to officer in Carpentersville

Aggravated battery to an officer: Robert C. Garcia, 30, of Glendale Heights, was charged with felony aggravated battery to a police officer and misdemeanor resisting a police officer following an incident Monday. He is accused of punching a police officer in the mouth and cheek during his arrest. Bail was set at $75,000, and he was given an April 17 court date.
Retail theft: Brian D. Coombs, 22, of the 0-10 block of Longwood Court, Elgin, was charged with a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing a police officer following a March 25 incident. He is accused of taking more than $300 in merchandise from Saz Computers and attempting to run from police. Bail was set at $10,000, but he was released on his signature and given an April 24 court date.
Mailboxes damaged: Vandals damaged three mailboxes and an overhead garage door in the 10800 and 10700 blocks of Lone Star Way and the 10700 block of Santa Fe Trail on Sunday, police reported this week.
Machine theft: Someone broke into a vending machine in the 10300 block of Vine Street on Sunday and stole the coins inside.
Two arrested: When Huntley police stopped a car on March 27, they arrested two young men inside. Police said Daryl L. McGhee, 22, of the 10400 block of Centennial Drive in Huntley, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tyler F. Grodzki, 20, of the 1000 block of Brittany Bend in Lake in the Hills, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also was arrested on a Cook County arrest warrant based on a previous case.
Car burglary: A cellphone and vehicle key were stolen from a parked car in the 10900 block of Madison Way on March 27, the owner told police.
