HUNTLEY — The village board is planning to move forward with a streetscape plan for the proposed downtown improvements that are underway.
The board expects to enter into an agreement with HousealLavigne Associates to prepare a streetscape plan that is consistent with the revitalization goals for the downtown, officials said.
Village Manager David Johnson noted the board discussed the development of a comprehensive plan for the project at the Feb. 14 meeting earlier this year. The goals of the plan are to develop a clear consensus on design elements and to prepare engineering plans that will allow the village to construct the improvements in manageable pieces, he said.
Village staff intends to have the engineering plans ready for construction as soon as fund are available from the new downtown/Route 47 tax increment financing district, or from future grant opportunities.
In other business, board members were told that the Huntley Park District will be hosting its annual egg hunt with a special visit from the Easter bunny on Saturday, March 30.
The fun begins at 10 a.m. at Deicke Park under the Betsy Warrington Pavilion.
Parking for the event is at the Huntley Rec Center, 12015 Mill St.
