AURORA — The Paramount will wrap up its second Broadway musical season with the family classic “Fiddler on the Roof,” Artistic Director Jim Corti announced Thursday.

Winner of nine Tony awards, “Fiddler on the Roof” is a musical journey of love, loss, faith and family, and ultimately, a celebration of life and all its challenges, said the Paramount’s Jay Kelly. The show will run March 6 to 24.

Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, “Fiddler” tells the story of Tevye, a simple and loving milkman, who does everything he can to maintain his family and their religious traditions. With five strong-willed daughters, a loyal yet independent wife and an ever-changing society, the safety and stability of his old world is disappearing.

Corti said the show boasts a stellar cast.

“It’s our privilege to tell this story, sing and dance these cherished melodies and bring our audience the experience that is librettist Joseph Stein’s, lyricist Sheldon Harnick’s, and composer Jerry Bock’s American musical masterpiece,” Corti said.

Single tickets are $34.90 to $46.90. Performance times are at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; 7:30 p.m. Thursday; 8 p.m. Friday; 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. “Fiddler on the Roof” is rated G.

For tickets and information, call the Paramount at 630-896-6666; visit the Pramount box office at 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; or visit the theater online at ParamountAurora.com.

To date, the Paramount Theatre’s self-produced “Better than Broadway” musicals have played to nearly 20,000 subscribers.
