Vacant home burglarized: The nephew of an elderly woman who’s now living in a nursing home said someone broke into her vacant home on North Jackson Street between Jan. 6 and Jan. 11. The burglars broke two windows in a door and stole a 46-inch flat-screen TV, some costume jewelry and possibly some clothing, police were told. The nephew said that city code enforcement personnel had red-tagged the home sometime previously and had required 8 tons of garbage to be removed from it but that the garbage is now gone.
Telephone harassment: Police reported they received complaints about telephone harassment on Jan. 5 from a home in the 800 block of Casey Lane and on Jan. 10 from a business in the 200 block of Industrial Drive.
Too young: A car stopped for driving without headlights on Jan. 9 turned out to have a 15-year-old boy at the wheel, police reported this week. The youth was charged with driving without a license and was released to his mother.
Criminal damage: John J. Formella, 26, of the 10600 block of Matthew Street, Huntley, was charged with criminal damage to property after an incident Saturday, police reported Wednesday.
High school theft: Someone stole an iPhone 4S smartphone out of a locker at Huntley High School after class Friday, the owner told police Friday.
