ST, CHARLES TOWNSHIP — Debra Bree has been named executive director of the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.
Bree has been a Kane County assistant state’s attorney since 2000, and since January 2009 she has been assigned to the Child Advocacy Center. Before that Bree was assigned to the office’s Juvenile Delinquency Division.
“Deb brings a wealth of experience and professionalism, and a caring touch to the position,” State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said.
Bree, a native of Lincoln, Ill., is a 1996 graduate of Illinois State University. She earned her juris doctor in 1999 from the DePaul University College of Law.
The Kane County Child Advocacy Center is a member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Illinois and is accredited through the National Children’s Alliance. It ensures coordination in the investigation of cases of sexual abuse of children. The CAC staff of prosecutors, investigators, social workers, victim advocates and support staff work together to investigate each case, to minimize the stress on the child and the child’s family, and to ensure that effective treatment is available to every child who has experienced abuse.
In 2012 the CAC and the state’s attorney’s office has investigated 285 cases alleging sexual misconduct against children under age 18 and has charged 38 suspected offenders.
