ELGIN — An Elgin woman who apparently was trying to avoid being arrested on a minor drug charge ended up facing more serious charges, and was Tasered, after she allegedly bit and wrestled with a police officer Sunday, authorities said.

According to court documents, Officer Geoffrey Gomoll stopped a car driven by Jacqueline Mancilla, 22, of the 1200 block of North Lyle Avenue, on the Kimball Street Bridge at about 4:13 a.m. Gomoll reported he had noticed the car’s license plate sticker had expired.

Gomoll said Mancilla refused to say who she was. She claimed she had a driver’s license but that she had forgotten it in her wallet at home. But Gomoll said he noticed she seemed to be hiding a wallet under her legs.

The officer stated that he told Mancilla she was under arrest and that when he opened the car door and reached inside to unlatch her seatbelt, she bit his arm. Another officer who had arrived on the scene then shot her with a Taser and they pulled her out of the car, police said.

He reported that she continued to fight and kick as they pushed her to the bridge pavement and struggled to put handcuffs on her, causing abrasions to Gomoll’s arm.

While they were struggling, the officers reported, Mancilla’s purse fell out of the car and spilled out the apparent reason for all her resistance: two bags of marijuana and a glass pipe.

Mancilla was charged with felony aggravated battery, felony aggravated resisting an officer, plus the misdemeanor charges of obstructing identification, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
