Bomb threat snarls Huntley High, Union man charged

The Huntley High School campus was closed off Saturday from about 2 p.m. until about 8 p.m. after a man made a phone call claiming he had left a bomb in a backpack in his car, parked in the school parking lot. Police reported that Derek M. Habbley, 25, of the 10200 block of Ridge Lane in Union, was charged with felony disorderly conduct and taken to McHenry County Jail. According to reports, a school play scheduled for that evening had to be canceled and 12 nearby houses were evacuated until the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad determined that no bomb existed.

Possession: Carrie L. Marin, 50, of Hampshire was charged Oct. 20 with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, village police reported last week. The arrest took place in the 200 block of Julie Lane at 11:54 a.m., police said
