Woman charged in St. Charles with aggravated ID theft vs. 65-year-old

ST. CHARLES — A 42-year-old West Chicago woman has been charged with using a Colorado resident’s identity, police said Friday.
Isabel Lopez was charged with aggravated identity theft after it was determined that she had been using the 65-year-old Lakewood, Colo., victim’s Social Security number, according to a press release from the St. Charles Police Department.
Police said the Colorado resident had contacted her local police department to file an identity theft report after she determined that a woman in St. Charles had been using her Social Security number without her knowledge or consent. The Social Security number was traced to AJR Enterprises, 3635 Swenson Ave., St. Charles.
Lakewood police investigators contacted the St. Charles police with the information and, on Wednesday, local police went to the business and interviewed Lopez. She was then taken into custody, reports stated.
The Kane County States Attorney’s Office authorized the charge, which was enhanced because the victim is over 60 years old, police said.
Lopez posted $50,000 bail on the charge, and she was turned over to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, police said.
