BARTLETT — An Elgin man has been arrested on charges that he followed a woman out of a nightclub, sideswiped her car with his SUV, and then forced her into his vehicle where he raped her.

Mario A. Moore, 33, of the first block of Willard Avenue, was charged with kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Bartlett police Sgt. Geoffrey Pretkelis said Moore did not know the victim previously but had seen her inside the Cadillac Ranch nightclub on Route 20 early Saturday morning. At about 4 a.m., the woman was driving on Devon Avenue near Baytree Drive when her vehicle was sideswiped by a maroon-colored 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Moore, police said.

Shortly after the car crash, police charge, Moore punched the woman and then forced her inside his vehicle, where he sexually assaulted her. Bartlett police located the victim in the area of North Avenue and Oak Avenue after she escaped from Moore’s vehicle a short time later, police said.

Following an investigation, Bartlett police located Moore on Sunday at the Geneva Commons shopping center on Randall Road in Geneva and arrested him. On Monday, a Cook County judge set his bail at $500,000 and scheduled a preliminary court date of Oct. 19 in the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.

In Kane County, according to court records, Moore was charged by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office with misuse of a credit card in 2008, which led to him being placed on probation. He also was charged by the Carpentersville Police Department with domestic battery in 2009, although that charge eventually was dropped.
