Five charged in Lake in the Hills drug raid

LAKE IN THE HILLS — Five men have been charged with various drug crimes following a raid on a home here last week, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Sheriff Keith Nygren said in a press release that the arrests were the result of a two-week investigation by members of the sheriff’s department’s Narcotics Unit and the Lake in the Hills Police Department.
Investigators served search and arrest warrants Thursday for a home at 535 Delaware Drive, according to the press release. Investigators located about 15.2 grams of heroin, about 2.5 grams of cannabis, syringes, packaging material, grinders and digital drug scales, Nygren said. He estimated the street value of the narcotics seized to be about $4,500.
Taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis were Timothy R. Hastings, 28, of the Delaware Drive address; Norman Brown, 24, of Chicago; Ishamel C. Bailey, 31, of Chicago; Joseph D. Whithair, 21, of Cary; and Rahim B. Conda, 32, of Bloomington.
Brown also was charged with a parole violation.
