Boy, 6, killed in hit-and-run incident

Police in Woodstock are searching for the driver of a white passenger car or SUV that struck a 6-year-old boy Saturday night near 4601 Franklinville Road.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s office, the boy was struck by a vehicle and the driver did not stop following the 9:04 p.m. accident, fleeing the scene north bound on Franklinville Road. The vehicle has damage to one of the headlamps, officials said.

The victim was transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock where he was pronounced dead, officials said. The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
