Police, with a SWAT unit, were involved with a four-hour standoff Saturday on the 100 block of Whittington Course. According to officials, police were called for the report of a domestic disturbance at a townhome there at 4:15 p.m. Officers were told that the offender had threatened to shoot his father and had barricaded himself in the basement, according to police. The parents were safely outside of the house when officers arrived, but due to the threats made, officers established a perimeter around the home and requested assistance from Kane County SWAT. A neighboring townhome was also evacuated as a precaution, police said, and access to the other townhome units were restricted but no other evacuations occurred. After several hours which included negotiations with the suspect, the person agreed to come out of the house and was taken into custody at 8:05 p.m., police said. He was transported to Delnor Hospital by the St. Charles Fire Department. Police did not say whether the suspect would be charged. There were no injuries and no hostages were taken during this incident.
