South Elgin — A South Elgin High School football player was airlifted to a hospital Saturday afternoon as a precautionary measure after the junior boy reported numbness and feeling groggy, said Elgin School District U46 Tony Sanders said.

According to reports, there was no indication that the boy was hit hard or tackled during the practice, the team’s first full-uniform practice for the season. The boy’s father was at the field during the practice, and the boy was responsive to paramedics when they arrived, Sanders said.
