AURORA — The Paramount Theatre will boldly go where it hasn’t gone before.
Hollywood icon William Shatner will bring his one-man Broadway show, “Shatner’s World: We just Live In It” to the Paramount Theatre on Jan. 4, 2013.
Tickets go on sale June 11 for the Paramount’s upcoming season, which includes Shatner’s appearance. Prices range from $85 to $65. For an additional $75, customers can purchase a VIP add-on which includes seats in the first 20 rows, a special edition tour poster, Shatner’s autograph and a photo op with Shatner himself, said Jim Jarvis, director of communications and sales for the Paramount.
“The show is about William Shatner’s life … from growing up in Canada to being Captain Kirk and winning Emmy awards,” Jarvis said. “Whether you’re a ‘Star Trek’ fan or love ‘Boston Legal’ or some of his other stuff, it’s William Shatner, one of the most famous people in acting, coming to Aurora for an evening.”
Shatner’s stories are interspersed with personal photos and videos.
Although he’s known for his iconic role of Captain Kirk on TV’s “Star Trek,” Shatner went on to star in such movies as “Airplane 2” and “Miss Congeniality.” He also won two Emmy awards for his roles on “The Practice” and “Boston Legal.”
“A lot of people don’t realize that even after ‘Star Trek,’ Shatner was living in the back of his van again,” Jarvis said. “He had all that stardom, but wasn’t paid a lot. The guy’s gone through the lowest of lows and the highest of highs, and he shares all those stories.
“Not to take away from other artists that are coming in, but everyone has the same response — ‘Holy cow, it’s William Shatner!’”
