Former student convicted of threatening Geneva school official

ST. CHARLES -- A 19-year-old former Geneva schools student has been convicted of threatening to kill a Geneva school official via email last year.
Daniel T. Diomedes, now of St. Charles, was convicted late Thursday by Associate Judge James C. Hallock, of one count of disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office.
Diomedes waived his right to a jury trial.
On April 26, 2011, Diomedes sent to a third party witness an email in which he threatened to kill a dean at Geneva High School, a release from the state’s attorney’s office said. The witness then contacted the Geneva Police Department and Geneva High School. Diomedes was a student at the school at the time.
Diomedes faces a sentence of probation or between 1 and 3 years in prison, the release said.
Diomedes remains free on $2,000 bond and GPS monitoring. As a condition of bond, he is to have no contact with the victim and he is prohibited from entering Geneva High School.
Judge Hallock set Diomedes’ next court appearance for 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 in Courtroom 313 for post-trial motions and sentencing.
