About 370 students participated in Friday’s commencement exercises for Elgin Community College’s spring 2012 graduates. Students in the graduating class received approximately 1,400 degrees and certificates, the largest in the college’s history, according to the school. State Sen. Michael Noland, D-Elgin, a member of the 2012 graduating class, served as the commencement speaker; Noland attended ECC in the 1980s and met all requirements for an associate in liberal studies degree.
